What Does Fully Managed Services Do?

Fully managed services provide proactive management of an IT asset or object by a third party, generally known as an MSP, on behalf of a customer. Instead of relying on the knowledge of just one or a handful of in-house staff members, you benefit from the expertise of an experienced managed services team. With fully managed services, you don't have to worry about configuring any machines, management, patching, or backups. AWS takes care of everything, and you can even choose the service window you prefer for those tasks.

Managed service support or help desks can work in a variety of ways, but typically an MSP will use email, text message, web portal, or telephone to allow customers to submit tickets for support requests. Co-managed IT strikes a balance between service provider capabilities and the level of engagement you need or want. It can provide a variety of IT functions to complement and enhance the IT initiatives you already have in place, so that your internal staff can focus on the things that matter most. Sometimes, it can also happen that a fully managed service offered by AWS does not meet your needs and you have to provide a similar service on your own.

Fully managed features allow IT administrators to manage a wide range of device configurations and additional policy controls that are not available in the work profile solution suite. Partner onboarding is another area where there is the greatest disparity between fully managed EDI solutions and those that claim to offer managed EDI. What each of these solutions offers and how they compare to managed services is as different as day and night. Managed services take the overall security of your network and data out of the hands of a single person and place it in the hands of an entire team with proven systems and protocols.

While they may look similar (and both differ from on-premises solutions), managed and fully managed EDI solutions are very different and should not be confused. According to Gartner, “A managed service provider (MSP) provides services, such as networks, applications, infrastructure and security, through ongoing and regular support and active management at customer premises, in their MSP's data center (hosting), or in a third-party data center. Your managed services team works with yours to create the perfect IT solution for you, and then manages your IT from start to finish. Fully managed services are convenient and easy to manage.

You don't have to worry about backups, patches, and fixes. With fully managed services, you don't have to worry about anything - which is exactly how it should be.
